Job Description

Key responsibilities:
  • Administer diagnostic and state mandated assessments of English Language Learners
  • Evaluate, determine goals for and track progress of individual English language learners, and communicate with faculty, students and families
  • Maintain ELL records in accordance with DESE standards
  • Provide direct ELL instruction to small groups of students and/or provide inclusion support for ELA classes containing ELL students, based on case load
  • Work specifically with ELL students during assigned periods of the day on helping to access general education curriculum and build ELA skills
  • Support student use of additional technology-enhanced learning tools to support ELL students’ language acquisition.
  • Advise teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ELL students and share best practices to ensure high quality sheltered content instruction is provided

    Job Requirements

    • 1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure as an ELL/ESL Teacher by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;
      2. Bachelor's Degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in a related field;
      3. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
      4. Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies;
      5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements

      Will consider .5 FTE or 1 FTE
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
