Job Description

This position is dedicated to facilitating communication, increasing social skills, academic skills, self-help skills and promoting independence. This position will work closely with the teacher(s) and Behavior Analyst in helping the student decrease maladaptive behaviors that prevent the student from developing his/her full potential, while systematically increasing socially appropriate behaviors.

Job Description:

• Provides intense monitoring of student behavior as indicated on the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

• Provides discrete trial instruction to identified students and maintains appropriate documentation on outcomes of discrete trials and extensive behavior analysis data and graphing

• Supervises student(s) at all times as indicated on the IEP, to ensure the safety of the student(s), peers, and adults

• Act as a liaison for a caseload of students, to ensure implementation of student IEP, safety plans, FBAs, BIPs, monitor student progress, support student programming, and support the classroom teacher

• May work with a group of students to facilitate lessons and activities

• Provide all accommodations delineated in their IEP

• Provide carry over of instructional practices developed by related service providers (speech, OT, PT, Psychologist)

• Provide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and special education teacher has developed

• Develop appropriate materials that correspond with the lesson under the direction of the teacher and special education teacher

• Creating opportunities and instructing students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day

• Collect and summarize data based on the educational programs developed by the special education teacher

• Carry over and implementation of instructional programs developed by the regular/special education teacher

• Maintain student confidentiality

• Carry out other assignments designated by the Director of PPS

    Job Requirements

    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
    • Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in a related field, while not required, considered a plus;
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Associate degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
