Job Description

Frontier Regional/Union #38 School Districts are located in rural western Massachusetts in and around Deerfield. Occupying four buildings, the Union #38 School District (preK-6) serves the towns of Conway, Deerfield, Sunderland and Whately. Each school is governed by a local school committee. The Frontier Regional School District (grades 7-12), located in Deerfield, is governed by a separate 11-member school committee. The schools enjoy a high level of community support with a high level of expectation for educational excellence. Approximately 90% of the graduates pursue a two-year or four-year post-secondary education program.

The school district is located within 20 miles of six colleges and universities including Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, Amherst College, Hampshire College and the University of Massachusetts, as well as Greenfield Community College. The fine arts facilities of these colleges afford excellent opportunities for a variety of education and cultural experiences.

Except for the small business area in South Deerfield, the area is primarily rural. The towns connect by interstate highway to Boston (two hours by car), Hartford, CT (an hour and a half), and Springfield, MA (45 minutes).
