Job Description

Job Summary:
Directs and facilitates the coordination of pupil personnel services, curriculum and programming across the three schools at Mount Greylock Regional School District. Ensures consistency of programming and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervises and evaluates the Special Education Coordinator and student services personnel.
• Reviews and approves IEPs for quality, consistency, compliance with meeting notes and state and federal guidelines.
• Develops and administers the special education budget, circuit breaker reimbursements and grants
• Assists in recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of special education personnel and school nurses
• Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing special education services, Title I, ELL and Prek
• Planning and facilitating curriculum review, alignment and coordination
• Assist in planning and facilitating professional development
• Assist in reviewing assessment practices and tools

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the Special Education employees district-wide across the District’s three schools. Responsible for input on the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with districts’ policies and application laws.

    Job Requirements

    • Valid Massachusetts DESE Certification Special Education Administrator, All Levels
      Masters degree required; advanced degree preferred.
      Minimum of 5 years in education, including 2 years of Special Education administrative experience and 3 years teaching experience preferred.
      Valid teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement, full approval in at least one area of special education.
      Demonstrated leadership ability and general knowledge of issues and problems in all disability areas of special education.
      Successful administrative experience in special education and experience in leadership roles.
      Successful completion of all state and federal background checks as applicable by law and district policy.
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
