Job Description for Educational Support Professional (ESP/Paraprofessional)
  • Long-Term Substitute position for approximately three months.

    Qualifications: Associates Degree but Bachelors Degree is preferred

    Reports to: Teacher(s)

    Responsibilities
    • Assists students individually and in groups in and out of the general education classroom
    • Performs all instructional activities as directed and overseen by a certified teacher(s)
    • Performs all non-direct instructional activities as directed by the teacher(s)
    • Performs instructional and non-instructional duties in a self-contained, resource room, or general education classroom within the building or in any other building as directed by the teacher (s)
    • Performs all duties associated with meeting the medical, hygienic, physical, and global needs of children, including but not limited to assisting school nurses with catheter changes, diaper changing, toileting, related medical and/or hygienic needs, and transporting non-ambulatory students in wheelchairs within the school building, outside the school building, at recess, and other school related out-of-building activities and to and from transportation vehicles
    • Maintains the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning students
    Salary: According to the terms of the contractual agreement between the Winthrop School Committee and WTA.
