Job Description

Applications will be accepted for teaching positions for the grant funded STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) program for intermediate school students at Westfield Intermediate School.

Start Date: February 11, 2019 End date: May 22, 2019


The session will run two days a week from 2:30 - 4:00 for 10 weeks starting March 11 through May 22, 2019. Prep time 1 hour per week and 5 hours of pre-program planning with the other teachers and the coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop Project Based Lessons related to STEM
  2. Collaboration between teachers to develop engaging and thoughtful lessons that integrate math, technology and science.
  3. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction and student engagement.
  4. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
  5. Assess student progress.
  6. Maintain lesson plans and attendance records.
  7. Create a positive and engaging learning environment that is conducive to student learning.
  8. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  9. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  10. Strive to develop positive relationships with students.
  11. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  12. Monitor students while waiting for parent pick up at the close of the program.
  13. Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Administrator of Student Interventions, Building Principal or the Superintendent of Schools.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Administrator of Student Interventions

$36.00 per hour with no benefits not to exceed 45 hours.

This position contingent on funding.

    Job Requirements

    • REQUIREMENTS:
      • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the appropriate grade level and content area.
      • Prior academic support teaching experience preferred.
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
