The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2019-20 school year:

 

Waterford Elementary School

2nd Grade English Dual Language Immersion Teacher 

 

POSITION PURPOSE: The English Dual Immersion Teacher will teach English literacy skills and identified content subjects to 2nd grade students in the Dual Language Two-Way Immersion program.  The English Dual Language Immersion Teacher will use the English language and the Utah Foreign Language Dual Immersion Model to facilitate active learning experiences fluently in English.  The teacher will work in collaboration with a Spanish-speaking teacher to provide instruction to students. 

 

The English Dual Language Immersion Teacher will:

  • Provide learning experiences and teach lessons to meet objectives by following the approved Goshen Community Schools curriculum map, and the Utah Dual Language Immersion Model.
  • Teach 2nd grade students subjects exclusively using the English language for the purpose of creating fluency in English.
  • Teach basic elementary subjects in a dual language setting.
  • Engage and immerse students in the English language, literature, and culture, while teaching assigned core subjects.
  • Attend Dual Language Immersion training in Utah for 2 days in August

 

REQUIREMENTS:       

  • Valid K-3 or K-6 Indiana Teaching License
  • TESOL or ESL License-Preferred
  • Be willing to participate in the Dual Language Bilingual Education Certification and coaching offered in conjunction with Purdue University

 

Waterford Elementary School is a TAP school (Teacher and Student Advancement Program), so a comfort level with multiple observations/evaluations, peer/administrative feedback, collaborative work and imbedded professional development is essential.

HOURS:  School year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week

 

SALARY:  Teaching Contract – 184 days
