Position Overview





TERM:                         Twelve month work year


REPORTS TO:             Executive Director




  1. BS/BA in Information Technology or Computer Science (Preferred) - Certification (CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ etc.) a plus.
  2. 3-5 years experience in an IT environment.
  3. Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications.
  4. Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration.
  5. Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues.
  6. Ability to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
  7. Self-motivated, strong communication and interpersonal skills and attention to details.
  8. Excellent organizational and coordination abilities.
  9. Well-versed in School-based Learning Management Systems – Blackbaud, FrontLine, TalentEd, etc. and general database as well as all Microsoft Office tools.
  10. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in use of educationally appropriate technology.




  1. Maintain information technology systems and networks for private K-12 school. Perform both technical and administrative tasks to ensure functionality and efficiency of computer and telecom systems.
  2. Responsible for all day-to-day end user support including diagnosing and troubleshooting computers, mobile devices, AV equipment, printers, software, applications and other related peripherals in coordination with outside consultant.
  3. In coordination with outside consultant, coordinate technology in the classroom to improve student instruction and achievement.
  4. Understand all components of Newmark Education’s administrative technology.
  5. In coordination with outside consultant, maintain operation of all school technology equipment.
  6. Coordinate deployment of new technology tools, including implementation by outside vendors.
  7. Coordinate acceptable use policy for school technology services.




    1. Maintain excellent attendance for contractual work schedule, including:

          a)  appearing to work on time;

          b)  providing advance notice of absence to permit adequate coverage;

          c)  limiting absences to earned sick/personal days;

    2. Analyze, track and resolve help desk requests and ensure prompt, thorough    

        resolution of issues.

    3. Manage day-to day operations of school database.  Help troubleshoot as necessary.

    4. Serve as primary technology liaison for outside web-based vendors for student,

        staff and parent database, including but not limited to data imports, data refresh and 

        other technical roles for:

               a)  Blackbaud

               b)  NWEA

               c)  TalentEd

               d)  FrontLine

    5. Serve as network liaison and support infrastructure, including hardware, laptop

        computers, internet connection and website, and software (various control software

        coordinator, software support, etc.:

              a)  diagnose and repair computer hardware and software issues;

              b)  diagnose and repair classroom AV, projectors, and smartboard peripherals;

              c)  Serve as "tier 1" support for LAN, WLAN and phone issues;

    6. Coordinate server performance, resiliency and disaster recovery with outside

        technology consultant.

    7. Work on special projects including software implements, system integration

        and limited application development in conjunction with outside consultant.

    8. Coordinate installation of software applications as needed.

    9. Document instructional "how to" procedures for the purposes of staff support

        and training.

   10. Manage workflow and annual updates.

   11. Manage printer setup, troubleshooting and maintenance.

   12. Coordinate advanced configuration of workstations, perform data backups and

         restorations, trouble shoot configuration problems and establish client network


   13. Assist in the evaluation, recommendation and acquisition of new technologies in to the

         K-12 program.

   14. Assist teachers with internet access.

   15. Undertake administrative responsibilities for school technology systems, including:

               a)  updating and maintaining the school's inventory of hardware and software;

               b)  monitoring all school devices including updates, leasing programs and

                    warranty issues;

               c)  serving as technical liaison for all third party technology partners including

                    but not limited to learning management systems such as Blackbaud;

               d)  providing recommendations for technology acceptable use policy;

               e)  communicating information about training services and research, including

                    preparing memos and making presentations, accompanied by handouts and/

                    or training manuals. 

               f)  managing database and consulting with outside technology firm for updates.

   16. Support staff use of technology, including:

               a)  providing technical support in the classroom in the use of existing and

                    emerging technology by staff and students such as Interactive Whiteboards,

                    Mediascape Software, Discovery Education;

               b)  providing technical support for website;

               c)  managing NWEA technology issues/updates.

   17. Participate in technology-based professional development programs.

   18. Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor.

   19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


EVALUTION:      At Least once annually by Executive Director.
