Job Description


The Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing reading support to identified students within a multi-tiered system of support. As a member of the school’s Scholar Support Team, the Reading Interventionist will identify and assess students, analyze student data to inform instruction, match interventions with identified student needs and monitor student progress. The Reading Interventionist must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with teachers, other specialists, and administrators, use data as the basis for instructional decision making and ensure with fidelity, the implementation of interventions according to established standards and guidelines. 


Other responsibilities include: collaborating with the building administrators, Literacy Coach, and other team members to coordinate the administration of the fall and spring screeners and assessments; actively participating on school leadership teams and supporting the implementation of a multi-tiered system of support at the school level.    


Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Massachusetts Certification: Reading Specialist certification required. At least five years successful experience working with middle grade children and children with reading/learning challenges; demonstrated success in designing and providing Tier I and Tier II literacy supports and interventions; experience in implementing a multi-tiered system of support in middle grades; demonstrated leadership as a collaborative member of an instructional team. Teaching in urban, multi-cultural environment preferred.
