Job Description

This is a Half-time Teacher/Advisor position at the Adult Learning Center with Brockton Public Schools. The incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Teach adult basic education classes
2. Assist students to develop, monitor, and fulfill an Individual Education and Career Plan
3. Provide academic advising to students and assist students with transitioning to next steps in their academic and/or career experience
4. Assist students to develop resumes and other job-related documents
5. Administer and evaluate assessments for class placement as well as ongoing Pre- and Post-testing according to DESE/ACLS standards
6. Provide intake, assessment and support services to adults entering the Adult Education program
7. Monitor student progress, attendance, retention, follow-up; track students’ goals and achievements and provide referral services as needed
8. Participate in DESE/ACLS advising, LACES and assessment trainings and attend regional Advisors’ Sharing group meetings; maintain partnerships with local area agencies
9. Available to attend staff meeting once per month and to participate in program planning and devel-

    Job Requirements

    • 1. Possess an English (8-12) educator license issued by the MA DESE
      2. Experience in teaching adults and differentiating instruction; familiarity with the College and Career Readiness Standards and the ABE ESOL Frameworks; experience developing curriculum, scope and sequence, curriculum units and lesson plans
      3. Experience advising students about college, careers and training opportunities in the Brockton area
      4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office modules
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
