Role

Veritas Prep Springfield is seeking a high-performing English Language Arts (ELA)/history teacher. ELA/history teachers are responsible for planning and delivering instruction for reading, writing and history to an advisory group of approximately 27 scholars. You will share this advisory group with a math/science teacher, working together to build a classroom culture of high expectations, consistent with our school-wide model. You will be part of a content planning team with the other ELA/history teachers at your grade level.

  

Specific Responsibilities

Building a Culture of Achievement and Teaching

  • Implement school-wide procedures and routines consistently to build a culture of high expectations both academically and behaviorally
  • Study and internalize subject area content and curriculum and prepare for daily instruction by completing daily lesson preparation
  • Deliver rigorous, standards-based lessons and assessments using key instructional strategies taught in whole-school PD and in coaching sessions
  • Track and analyze data to drive dramatic student achievement results
  • Plan and lead data-driven tutoring sessions daily with students
  • Integrate the teaching of social emotional program and skills into both formal and informal teaching moments with students

 

Team Planning and Professional Growth

  • Participate actively in weekly professional development and incorporate lessons learned there into daily teaching practice
  • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly coaching meetings, incorporating feedback into daily teaching and planning practices
  • Actively work with co-advisor  to communicate proactively with families and to build a inclusive, one team spirit with families
  • Participate actively in weekly planning meetings  with fellow content teachers
  • Plan daily with co-advisor to build a positive culture of academic achievement in your classroom

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Provide proof of subject area expertise either through passing the relevant MTELs or having a college major in the subject(s) taught or by possessing or being eligible for a MA teaching license in middle school math and science, including SEI endorsement
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
  • Teaching experience with a proven track record of producing dramatic achievement gains is ideal
