Job Description

The Marblehead Public Schools are currently seeking well qualified candidates for the position of Substitute Teacher, grades PreK -12 for the 2018-2019 academic year. Please submit your application online through our partnership with Schoolspring.

JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher Grades PreK - 12

LOCATION: All Schools

REPORTS TO: Principal and Superintendent

POSITION GOAL:

The substitute teacher is the temporary primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. Student achievement and growth are primarily dependent on the work and efforts of the substitute teacher. The position is demanding, varied and complex. The substitute teacher must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and teaching strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors or higher degree
• Teaching experience preferred
• Massachusetts DESE license preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Interpersonal communication skills
• Analytical skills
• Organizational skills
• Ability to work well with people
• Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
• Ability to effectively plan and implement
• Knowledge of curriculum and program development processes
• Current knowledge of subject matter program and curriculum areas
• Effective conflict resolution skills
• Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. Must be able to walk and stand on tile flooring for up to 1-2 miles per day, lift up to 25 pounds, bend and twist regularly at the waist, knees and neck.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

On call and temporary.
Salary: $80 per day
