Job Description

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in mental health or education preferred
• Minimum 2 years in management/supervisory role
• Experience working with a special needs population and understanding of a therapeutic milieu
• Proven leadership skills
• Proven communication, organization and writing skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently

Schedule:

• 12 months/full time
• Salary and benefits, including vacation time, determined by the Executive Director

Supervised by: Principal

Responsibilities:

• Work in collaboration with Head Teacher to ensure proper implementation of IEP of all students within the program
• Work in collaboration with Social Worker to ensure social /emotional needs of all students are being addressed within the
program
• Coordinate all team functions and programming by facilitating the team concept and providing leadership at program meetings
• Provide cross-school leadership and work closely with all program leaders on cross-school initiatives by collaborating with
Assistant Principals in all schools to assure individual student needs, as well as, address coverage needs for the campus
• Provide training, supervision, and support to assistant teachers, particularly in the areas of behavioral interventions and
teamwork
• Keep Principal informed regarding staff issues, employment issues, legal and public relations issues, as well as help facilitate
Principal’s connection with the program
• Oversee staff supervision schedule, daily scheduling, including arranging coverage, homeroom groupings, and elective
programming
• Oversee communication and working relationships with families
• Oversee behavioral program and provide crisis intervention
• Respond to student behaviors in the classroom and throughout the milieu by utilizing Gifford behavioral systems
• Utilizing Safety Care techniques, help maintain community safety
• Maintain/Supervise the tracking of behavioral, educational and clinical data
• Recommend suspension decisions to principal, complete suspension letters and participate in re-entry meetings
• Ensure physical safety of all staff and students
• Participate in long-range planning goals and develop programming consistent with those goals
• Oversee compliance with emergency procedures such as protocol for fire drills and other preparedness trainings
• Demonstrate respect for diversity among our staff and student body and promote an atmosphere which values this diversity

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to participate in outdoor physical activities to include kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 25 pounds
