Job Description

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Cafeteria Manager (Director of Food Services, if needed), the Cafeteria Worker performs a variety of tasks associated with the daily operation of the cafeteria.


1. Assists Cafeteria Manager with daily production of breakfast, lunch, snacks and any catering events; prepping, cooking, merchandising, serving, cleaning, forecasting, etc.

2. Prepares food according to planned menu and standardized recipe

3. Serves accurate servings of each product according to the National School Lunch and Breakfast Nutrition Standards.

4. Assists in the daily cleaning of all kitchen areas, including washing and sanitizing of all serving, prepping and storage areas

5. Serves as cashier at designated lunch periods, including daily reconciliation of revenue and meals served, ability to correctly identify reimbursable meals, enforcing of meal charging policies, accurately checking trays for students with known allergies

6. Replenishes food, snack items, and beverages before, during, and after lunch periods as needed

7. Cleans kitchen equipment and storeroom at regularly scheduled intervals as determined by the Cafeteria Manager or Food Service Director

8. Performs other duties required for the safe and orderly operation of the food service program

9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager and/or Director of Food Services

10. 180 School Days
