Job Description

The Center School, a Full-Year (12 month) private Special Education day school located in Holyoke, MA serving students from ages 5-22, seeks dedicated candidates for a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist position. Position offers a competitive rate of pay and benefit package and 12 month employment. Hours can be flexible to include FT, PT or Per Diem schedules.

The SLP provides services to classrooms as a communication specialist by way of (1) adding to our curriculum learning that reflects the therapeutic language requirement of our students, (2) training and mentoring staff to implement the curriculum, and (3) teaching these skills in a classroom setting.

Position Responsibilities:

- Provides supervision, mentoring and training for all staff delivering communication services in the school.

- Collaborates with Teachers and other Allied Health staff to provide comprehensive and appropriate services to students.

- Prepares and monitors student IEP goals developed for students that receive direct Speech and Language services.

- Develops, implements and manages Speech and Language curriculum and assessment materials.

- Develops augmentative communication programs.

- Supervises all clinical services including assignment of individual caseloads, group schedules and selection of group services.

- Assures that services provided to students are delivered as outlined in Individual Education Plans and treatment plans.

- Administers speech and language assessments to students and prepares corresponding reports, as needed.

- Prepares updates and reports for presentation at district team meetings and attends team meetings as requested.

- Plans and provides training for school staff as needed or requested.

- Adheres to professional licensure standards while upholding the school model of treatment.

- Supervises SLPAs and college interns as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Position requires a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), and valid/current licensure with the MA Division of Professional Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. MA DESE licensure in Speech, Language, Hearing Disorders is preferred.

      NOTE: All candidates who have been given an offer of employment will be subject to screening through the following agencies: CORI, SORI, DCF, SAFIS (Fingerprinting)
