Job Description

• Demonstrate a solid knowledge of and maintains currency and certification in Applied Behavioral Analysis by attending relevant professional development activities, provides regular training to teachers and staff members regarding de-escalation techniques, physical management and behavioral needs of students

• Regularly consults to administration, teachers, staff and families regarding students who have significant interfering behaviors that disrupt learning; regularly gathers information from teachers and service providers regarding student behaviors and skill deficits that negatively impact learning

• Provides Safety Care Training to staff, responds to crisis situations and works with the team to deescalate student behavior; providing physical management, as needed

• Completes observations and assessments of students as determined by the BCBA and Team (Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), MAS, FAST, etc…) for students who are not accessing the curriculum and making effective progress

• Develops, oversees and consistently models appropriate Behavior Intervention Plans, positive behavioral interventions, strategies, and reinforcement schedules until staff can independently run the plan

• Consistently follows up with teachers and staff members to support them in following the Behavior Intervention Plans with fidelity

• Supervises ABA Technicians , develops data collection systems, trains ABA Technicians to graph data, reviews and interprets data weekly and meets with program staff regarding student progress relative to the data

• Attends IEP meetings for eligible students, determines the need for school and home services based on evaluation data, and develops appropriate goals and benchmarks; attends SIT and 504 meetings when deemed necessary

• Attends regularly scheduled meetings with Building Principals and the Director of Special Services to review process, cases, and implementation of behavioral strategies.

• Utilize the existing Student Data Management System (Aspen X2) to write goals, benchmarks and progress reports for Individual Education Programs

• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.

    Job Requirements

      Consult to administration, program teachers and staff regarding students who have significant behavioral issues that interfere with access to the curriculum. Complete a range of Behavioral assessments; develop data collection systems and Behavior Intervention Plans. Provide training and modeling to staff regarding the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis, data collection and implementation of classroom and individual behavior plans. Follow through with staff to ensure plans are implemented with fidelity. Provide home consultation as determined by the Team. Attend IEP meetings and develop appropriate goals and benchmarks for eligible students.

      Director of Special Education and Building Principals

      1. Hold a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) certification;

      2. A Master’s Degree or higher in Special Education, School Psychology, or related field;

      3. Experience as a Behavior Analyst in a public school environment; and has Safety Care training

      4. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, school-level involvement and/or system-wide professional activities, and the interview process.
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
