Job Description

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Pupil Services
Immediately through November 30, 2018

GENERAL DUTIES:
1. Instruct students in basic foundation and living skills appropriate to functioning level, age, and school community
2. Provide rigorous and appropriate instruction to students in varied academic settings
3. Collaborate with colleagues to develop modified classwork
4. Create rigorous reading lessons/activities that meet students’ instructional levels
5. Analyze and use data to drive instruction
6. Apply appropriate knowledge to curriculum content/instruction (including behavioral and ABA approach to instruction), plan lessons and align assessment of student learning, monitors students' understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments, using data-driven techniques, as appropriate
7. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
8. Establish positive relationships with students and their families by creating two way lines of communication
9. Communicate clearly in oral and written form with confidentiality
10. Analyze data accurately and adopt an effective course of instructional practice
11. Work collaboratively with colleagues, administration and parents/guardians
12. Develop comprehensive IEP and related documents in a timely manner to meet student specific needs and report on student progress and needs for liaison caseload of students.
13. Collaborate with the Special Education Department Head/Team Chairperson, related service providers, and parents to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) addressing students’ needs
14. Maintain the classroom FaceBook page
15. Participate fully in professional development
16. Willingness to work during the Extended School Year summer months program preferred
17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Administration and Director of Pupil Services

    Job Requirements

    • QUALIFICATIONS:
      1. Possession of a MA DESE license in the area of Students with Severe or Moderate Disabilities with SEI Endorsement, required
      2. Possession of MA DESE license in the area of Elementary Education (1-6), preferred
      3. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certified, preferred
      4. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with Special Education
      5. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with research-based assessments
      6. Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with others
      7. Demonstrate ability to maintain a detailed schedule for self and Instructional Assistants
      8. Experience in planning, directing, and assisting group and individual instructional activities which are engaging and multi-sensory preferred
      9. Strong communication skills and a background in working with parents/guardians as partners in the educational process

      SALARY: Long-Term Substitute Teacher Rate, Benefits included
      August 2018 - November 30, 2018
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
