Basic Purpose: The Shady Hill Afterschool Program is seeking after school staff members for the 2018-19 school year. This is a part-time position. We are seeking dedicated, dynamic and engaging instructors to join our experienced after school team.

For 100 years, Shady Hill has been a leader in progressive elementary education and our after school program is part of that tradition. The program allows children to explore their worlds and test their powers; we seek to develop independent, joyful and curious learners who respect their own accomplishments and those of others. Hours:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 2:30 PM – 6:0

  • There will be a periodic rotating late stay split between staff

    Primary responsibilities:
    • Under the leadership of the Director of Auxiliary Programs, after school staff members are responsible for engaging students during after school time and delivering a well-planned group program.
    • Instruction and supervision of students, with a primary responsibility for the grades K-2 students.
    • Create and implement programming within the Afterschool program
    • Ensure student safety and well-being
    • Care for and maintain after school spaces, equipment, supplies and property of the program
    • Properly complete and submit required paperwork on time
    • Support students with homework and other activities
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    • The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills
    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Must be comfortable communicating with a range of people, including after school staff, day school faculty, as well as parents and the children that participate in the program
    • Have the flexibility to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
    • Have experience working with school-aged children. Experience with differentiating instruction for a multi-age group preferred
    • Candidates should demonstrate a history of flexibility, punctuality, and responsibility
