Job Description

This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility of providing instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the rules and regulations of the Central MA Special Education Collaborative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plan, develop and implement various instructional experiences through creativity and resourcefulness which lends to the
educational growth and development of targeted students.
2. Develop effective classroom presentation, techniques, and review, correct, and reinforce instructional lessons to enhance the
learning and retention process.
3. Develop effective techniques for academic assessment and management of discipline and behavior reinforcement.
4. Align instruction with curriculum frameworks.
5. Assist students in building academic, social, and self-regulatory skills.
6. Address and handle students with behavioral issues.
7. Create a structured, therapeutic, safe environment for all students.
8. Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for the class and individual students.
9. Prepare students for MCAS.
10. Assist students in all activities of daily living.
11. Conduct assessments, write reports and participate in the team process.
12. Write and implement IEP’s and progress reports.
13. Collaborate with support service providers, clinicians, and other educators.
14. Maintain data and all required documentation.
15. Supervises para-professionals.
16. CPI/non-violent crisis intervention training required.
17. Capable of making judgments and decisions.
18. Able to reach, grasp ad handle objects using upper extremities.
19. Able to deal with people in a variety of situations.
20. Able to exercise universal precautions and tolerate management of body fluids as needed.
21. Lift and carry objects and/or classroom equipment, up to 50 pounds.
22. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the director.

    Job Requirements

    • ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION
      1. Appropriate MA Teacher’s Certification. Dual certified in middle and high school or high school special education preferred.
      2. Advanced educational preparation in the discipline or area of certification.
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
