Job Description

The Speech and Language Pathologist will work with students in grades Pre-K through­ 12 who have challenges in communication and/or social pragmatics. We are seeking candidates who have expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Social Thinking Curriculum, behavioral interventions, hearing, expressive/receptive language disorders, articulation/phonology, voice/resonance, transition planning and services, and who are able to link direct services to classroom objectives and IEPs.

This is a shared position between two school districts: BART Charter Public School, and the Adams-Cheshire School District. Both are located in Adams, MA.

Job responsibilities will include:

- Designing and implementing appropriate and relevant speech and language treatment
- Providing individual, small group, and/or inclusion intervention addressing receptive, expressive and pragmatic language, auditory comprehension/memory/processing, and/or social communication skills to support academic and social competencies
- Consulting to general education and special education staff regarding student needs and best practices
- Completing age appropriate assessments utilizing both formal and informal tools as well as observation in order to determine eligibility for services and inform the creation of IEP goals
- Attending and presenting at initial, annual, and re­evaluation IEP meetings
- Communicating with parents/guardians and collaterals
- Monitoring student progress through the collection of data
- Creating IEP goals for students receiving services; completing IEP progress reports
- Maintaining all necessary licenses through continuing education and professional development
- Perform any other appropriate duties as requested by Special Education Director

    Job Requirements

    • Additional Requirements:
      - Master’s Degree
      - ASHA Certification
      - DESE License of Speech Language and Hearing Disorders (All Levels)
      - Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure as a Speech/­Language Pathologist
      - Minimum of 2 years experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist, school setting
