Job Description

The League School of Greater Boston is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER to start immediately at our Walpole campus.

This senior administrative position reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for financial planning and for directing and monitoring all accounting and financial management functions for the organization. This position is responsible for treasury functions, financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, insurance, investment and financial planning of government contracts and fundraising.

The incumbent will work closely with the other members of the management team to promote the organization’s mission and assure appropriate financial management and reporting. The incumbent will also interact with the Board of Directors, including working with the Treasurer and the Audit and Investment Committees.

    Job Requirements

    • Position Requirements:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management or Health Administration. Master’s degree preferred.
      • At least 10 years of financial management experience with a minimum of 3 years in a Chief Financial Officer position of a company with revenue of at least $10 million.
      • Experience within a non-profit organization and/or expertise in government contracting.
      • Experience managing accounting, insurance, and banking relationships appropriate for the current and anticipated growth of the organization.
      • Ability to forecast revenue and expenses and provide accurate projections for cash flow as required by an increasing need for working capital in a growth environment.
      • Strong analytic skills, track record in improving processes and procedures and the ability to communicate effectively.
      • Proven leadership skills and ability to coach and develop the accounting team.
      • A track record providing timely financial information and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
      • Strong communications and relationship management skills, professional demeanor and ability to thrive in a diverse environment
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

      Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

      1. Directs, plans and implements policies and procedures, objectives and activities of the organization that align to its mission and that ensure continuing operations while maximizing return on investments.
      2. Evaluates the organization’s fiscal function and performance and reports to the Executive Director.
      3. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates employee performance of 3 accounting specialists; recommends or initiates promotions, transfers and disciplinary action.
      4. Prepares forecasts and budgets for approval, including those for funding and implementation of programs, and manages budgets to successful achievement.
      5. Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Board of Directors and Executive Director in performing their responsibilities.
      6. Participates in continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
      7. Maintains appropriate cash management strategies to ensure adequate cash availability for ongoing operations.
      8. Acts as an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the organization may enter.
      9. Oversees the annual audit process, which includes audited financial statements, Uniform Financial Cost Report, Form 990 and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Form PC.
      10. Oversees the annual audit for workers compensation and 403(b) plan.
      11. Evaluates and recommends accounting, payroll and other software systems for the organization.
      12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

      Annual Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 (commensurate with experience/education)
