Summary:

The Carlton Innovation School is looking to add a dynamic primary level classroom teacher for a kindergarten classroom. A successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood literacy and math practices as well as be able to design and adapt instruction based on student needs and the Common Core standards. The appropriate Massachusetts Educators License is required.

 

General responsibilities include the ability to:

 

-Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners in whole group and small group settings.

 

-Facilitate a positive classroom community environment using the Responsive Classroom approach and extend that positive outreach to families.

 

- Work as part of a grade level team for the purposes of planning and implementing curriculum.

 

- Use a range of tools to assess where students are and diagnostically plan instruction to meet those needs and ensure student achievement.

 

- Utilize Lucy Calkin’s resources within a reader’s and writer’s workshop model as well as a workshop model in math.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Early Childhood (K-2) required
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement required
  • Maintain professional competence
  • Experience working in an urban setting preferred
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
