Job Description

SUMMARY: The Utility Custodian is responsible for but not limited to the following:
All maintenance repair and upkeep of all facilities, equipment, and machinery in the Tiverton School Department, and reports to the Superintendent/Director of Administration & Finance for assignments and direction.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of electricity, HVAC, Oil/Gas burners/boilers, heating control systems, compressors, carpentry, plumbing, auto
mechanics and electrical, sewage systems, and grounds.


EDUCATION:
Minimum High School diploma or GED, with experience in the Building Trades.


FUNCTIONS PERFORMED:

-Maintains and lines all fields.

-Repair existing plumbing when required.

-Maintain and repair Oil/Gas Burners/Boilers when applicable.

-Calibrate Heating Control Systems.

-Purchase supplies, materials, and equipment when necessary.

-Assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant.

-Work on building repairs and or renovation projects when require.

-Plows snow where applicable. (On call)

-Assists on occasion with various duties performed by custodial personnel.

-Such other tasks as directed by the Superintendent and/or Director of Maintenance


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives supervision from the Superintendent and/or Director of Maintenance. Must be able to function
with little or no direction from Supervisor.


PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Required to climb ladders, stand, stoop, bend, use test equipment, and various tools, as may be required to repair
and replace equipment and machinery, and work with other custodians.
