The Stern Center for Language and Learning seeks a full-time experienced Director of Development. The Stern center is a non-profit organization dedicated to learning for all as we recognize that all great minds don't think alike. We are committed to helping individuals identify their learning strengths and finding solutions to challenges that allow everyone to learn.

We evaluate and teach more than 700 students each year including those with learning disabilities and learning style differences. We design and deliver programs for more than 1,500 educators each year and we conduct research on best practices for students and educators to help all kinds of learners succeed. Overview:
The Director of Development (DOD) will oversee all aspects of fundraising for the Stern Center for Language and Learning. S/he will aggressively advance our development budget. The DOD will lead the Development Department in executing strategies to increase funding, expand grant support, and foster productive relationships with the donors, board, clients, and staff.

We are seeking an exceptionally vibrant, motivated and accomplished fundraising professional with demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. The individual selected for this position must have unbridled enthusiasm to further the mission of our organization and be capable of skillfully and persuasively presenting our vision and resource needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute the annual fundraising plan and implement short and long-term strategies to realize revenue growth in line with Organizational goals
• Design, implement and evaluate all fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment, planned giving, and capital campaigns
• Model effective fundraising through management, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors
• Vigorously heighten the organization’s visibility and credibility in philanthropic communities to expand the base of support
• Manage development and grant writing staff and produce annual budgets to achieve annual strategic plan objectives
• Identify and research donor prospects and implement integrated direct marketing campaigns in collaboration with Communications Director
• Responsible for ensuring compelling grant proposals and accurate reporting
• Serve on Executive Management Team and Board Committees

    Job Requirements

    • Requirements:
      • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree preferred
      • 5+ years of fundraising experience with proven success in strategic fundraising planning, campaign management, donor stewardship, and in-person major gift solicitation
      • Strong knowledge of the local philanthropic landscape with a demonstrated ability to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships
      • 3+ years of leadership experience preferably in a non-profit environment
      • Must be driven to grow revenue with a positive outlook in an environment of ambiguity and change
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required
    • At least 5 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
