Job Description

Cathedral 7-12 High School seeks a Catholic Theology Teacher. The ideal candidate for the position has a deep understanding of Catholic theology and knowledge of Catholic magisterium and tradition, experience with religion, theology, and philosophy instruction, experience in urban education, is collaborative, and speaks a second language.


–To effectively provide student-centered Catholic sacred theology instruction.
–To collaborate with the theology department to support grades 7-12 curricula alignment of practices and expectations for students.
–Collaborate with grade level teachers to create project-based learning experiences for students.
–Create curriculum, unit goals, and lesson plans which align with the mission of the theology department.


  • Teach religion/theology classes at the middle school level
  • Attend theology department, faculty, and curriculum meetings to support student outcomes
  • Participate and help facilitate campus ministry activities, retreats, and service opportunities


Degree or licentiate in Catholic sacred theology, pastoral ministry, or related field (STL, STB, M.Th, M.Div, etc.) from a Catholic theological or pontifical faculty.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experienced classroom teacher, particularly at the middle school level (grades 7 & 8)
  • Passion for working with urban youth
  • Enthusiasm for living and sharing Catholic teachings and values in the spirit of evangelization
  • Speaks a second language
REPORTS TO: Principal

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: School year (225 days)

START DATE: August 2018

SALARY: Negotiated based upon experience
