Job Description

This position coordinates and implements social/emotional supports for our elementary-age students and takes a leadership role in building positive school climate based on our core values of respect, responsibility, kindness and engagement.

Core Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, education, social work or related field is required, with appropriate licensure in one of the above fields. Background in providing guidance/wellness instruction preferred. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work cooperatively in a team setting to assist in identifying needs, resources and strategies for students who require social/emotional support . Significant training, experience and compassion for students who have experienced childhood trauma is essential . Effective written and oral communication skills are required.

Core Responsibilities:
-Organizing small group counseling sessions to address student needs, and coordinating with mental health resources for long-term counseling support. Teaching social thinking skills in small groups through Second Step, Zones of Regulation and similar curriculum resources.
-Serving as a coach for all faculty in the areas of social, emotional, and academic wellness.
-Coordinating supports with families, special education case managers and outside partners.
-Consulting with administration and faculty to help improve school climate, analyze student data and results, and assist in the development of systems that will help to improve student growth and healthy learning environments.
-Taking leadership of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) initiative at the Elementary level through serving as the school’s PBIS coordinator.
-Participating on the school’s Educational Support Teams.
-Other assignments as requested by the administration to support the school and students.
