Job Description

Purpose Statement

The job of District Special Education Teacher – Elementary Specialist was established for the purpose/s of providing a wide variety of support to administrators, teachers and the special education department.



This job reports to Espanola Public Schools Special Education Director.



  1. Assist coordinate Part C to B transitions
  2. Review, approve and monitor Pre-school and elementary school IEPs
  3. Attend IEP meetings and act as LEA as needed
  4. Coach and mentor special education teachers
  5. Training educational assistants and substitute teachers
  6. Provide teachers IEP Builder trainings
  7. participate in IEP’s and EDT’s
  8. Coordinate and ensure smooth transitions from Part C (Espanola FIT) to Part B (EPS)
  9. Other duties as assigned


Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.


Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. 


Education Bachelors Degree
