$75-$85 per day based on length of school day

 

Summary

 

Performs related duties in the absence of the regular classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities by implementing the teacher’s prepared lesson plans.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson.
  • Uphold all District policies, rules and procedures to which all regular teachers are subject.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times: in classroom, school site and in the community.
  • Ability to present material using a variety of approaches, techniques, and media aids to stimulate interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity about subjects and events.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Teacher/Principal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies

Additional Information

 

Substitute employees are as needed, on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis.  There are no benefits associated with substitute employment.
