Job Description

This vacancy is for the 18-19 school year.. The Coordinator of Assessment and Remediation is a 239 day (11 month) position. The CAR coordinates all testing and remediation held at the school site.

Essential Duties
The Coordinator for Assessment and Remediation reports directly to the building principal. Main job responsibilities and duties are assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and the Director of Research & Planning.

The primary responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing intervention, remediation and tutorial activities at the school site;
  • Serving as the School Test Coordinator (STC);
  • Analyzing assessment data as it relates to the school, individual student achievement, and to the improvement of instruction;
  • Serving as a member of, and providing data for, the school's Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) team and Academic Achievement Team (AAT)

    Job Requirements

    • Strong knowledge of instructional classroom strategies, student academic assessment, remediation activities/strategies, and data use, analysis, and interpretation. Attention to detail. Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills. Ability to motivate, encourage, and challenge students to participate in remediation activities. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of the Virginia Assessment System and its programs, protocols, and procedures. Proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, and experience using spreadsheets and/or database systems required. Master's degree preferred in Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Guidance, or related field. Three years of successful experience with classroom instruction, testing, tutoring and/or remediation services. Eligible for, or possession of, Virginia Licensure in Administration, Pupil Personnel, or related area.
