Position title: Safety and Wellness Coordinator
Reports to: Principal
Full-time, school year position

We are seeking a dynamic Safety and Wellness Coordinator. This position is a unique opportunity for the right candidate who can balance supporting student safety and wellness. This position is not in a direct disciplinary role but does support a system-wide PBIS effort to set clear expectations, reinforce positive behavior, support accountability, and help students to restore relationships to support their learning.

Be a consistent, visible, proactive presence on campus through frequent walkthroughs of the building (hallways, lobbies and lunch rooms) and campus areas (parking lot, campus sidewalks, and bus lanes)
Build positive relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and community agencies
Support prevention and support work regarding driving violations, parking violations, theft, property damage, as well as possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances
Provide information on how to increase safety and security of the campus, staff and students
Serve as a member of the school crisis team and contribute to the annual review of crisis manual and crisis procedures.

Acts as a resource to administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, and health services
Develop intervention and prevention strategies for students and develop individualized service plans to facilitate achievement
As qualified, conducts individual and group counseling in areas of crisis intervention, family intervention, problem solving/decision making, substance abuse, grief, and anger management.
Provides families with information related to the needs of their child and acts as a resource to parents/guardians by providing family support activities and substance abuse education.
Assesses and monitors family and student progress and provides re-entry and follow-up services for students who are using alcohol and other drugs
Serves as a liaison between the school and related agencies to support students with substance abuse, discipline, and attendance issues
Provides consultation, training, and/or workshops in the area of wellness and safety for educators, families, and students

This position requires strong problem solving skills, ability to self-start, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The successful candidate can remain calm at all times while displaying high levels of discretion, integrity and confidentiality.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in social work, counseling, criminal justice, and/or student assistance.
