Job Description

Long Term Substitute - Special Education - Middle School - needed immediately to estimated end of April 2018. End date to be determined.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage student learning in accordance with the goals of the District
  • Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate
  • Organize students for effective instruction
  • Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students
  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information
  • Comply with and support school and District regulations and policies
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
  • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible
  • Implement and progress monitor IEP goals
  • Provide supplemental aids as indicated in individual IEPs
  • Implement behavior support plans
  • Co-teach inclusion classes to provided specialized instruction
  • Collaborate with teachers, support professionals and administration to meet the needs of all students assigned
  • Communicate with parents as determined by the current plan for each student
  • Collect data on student progress towards IEP goals
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with District policies and practices

    Job Requirements

    • Current Rhode Island Department of Education Certification - Special Education at time of hire.
    • Copy of original Official Transcripts at time of hire.
    • Current National Background Check results at time of hire.
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
