Job Description

The Department of Science and Technology at Hanover High School seeks a part-time design and engineering teacher. The variety of courses currently offered is directed toward students with varying interests and abilities. Development of skills and knowledge is emphasized, along with independent and team problem solving. Students are presented with opportunities to develop attitudes for productive citizenship through the study of issues and careers in science and technology.

This position may include teaching a combination of semester long courses including Engineering Design, Do It Yourself (DIY), and DARMA. Engineering Design 1 and 2 are introductory courses that encourage development of problem-solving skills through prototyping and building machines using a combination of hydraulic power, levers, pulleys, light, and vacuum to make working models. DIY 1 focuses on designing with wood and metal shaping while DIY 2 teaches rapid prototyping, introductory electronics and coding. The Design Applied Research Modeling and Art course (DARMA) focuses on the problem-solving skills and incorporates design challenges that students solve collaboratively using a design thinking approach.

You will work closely with science and technology faculty to design curriculum that helps students develop their creative confidence, innovate, explore real-world problems, and affect change on a local level. The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and become a member of a team working in a design lab environment. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage students of varying interests and abilities continue to develop a problem based curriculum focused on unique solutions, help students develop safe and effective use of tools as necessitated by the project, collaborate with other departments and teachers.

    Job Requirements

    • NH Certification with Computer Engineering Technology (#1749), Pre-Engineering (#0351), Drafting & Design Technology (#1713), or Comprehensive Technology Education (#1000) endorsements or Statement of Eligibility required.
    • At least 3 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
