TITLE High School/Middle School School Improvement Principal

SUPERVISED BY Superintendent

CONTRACT DAYS Twelve (12) Months

SALARY Current Administrative Pay scale (depending on experience and qualifications) plus benefits and possible SI stipend and/or Performance bonus.

POSITION GOAL The principal will provide leadership to sustain, evaluate, manage, implement and monitor a Tier I Priority school as identified by the ADE. This will include the implementation of the transformational model chosen by SUSD which focuses on raising student achievement, building a positive school climate that supports the whole student, leveraging research and data to drive initiatives and instruction; and building and sustaining a high performing staff and leadership team to achieve the district’s vision and goals.
• Establish high expectations and standards for excellence with teachers, staff, students and all stakeholders.
• Clearly communicates a vision for academic success and rewards to engage all stakeholders and raise morale.
• Identifies issues and concerns that are negatively impacting student achievement and takes action to create and implement solutions.
• Establishes a culture of learning and achievement
• Influences others and commands change leadership.
• Builds effective PLC teams and sets aside times to utilize exceptional coaching skills.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum (BT, CCS) including implementing literacy and math strategies and interventions as required by for school reform.
• Recognizes patterns and trends related to building, teacher and student performance using data walks, teacher evaluation and student assessment such as Instructional Effectiveness (IE) and other local assessments.
• Works directly with ADE School Improvement Division on grant application, financial compliance, PMI and summaries.
• Utilizes the teacher evaluation tool (which includes student performance standards), drives delivery of effective instruction/teacher best practices and guarantees the use of formative and benchmark achievement data to ensure student academic success.
• Implements and monitors continuous school improvement plan to raise student achievement and improve underperforming students.
• Believes in ability to affect change and takes on challenging situations with professionalism.
• Presents ideas with confidence and demonstrates strong commitment to district goals.
• Highly visible and advocate for children and the RTI process. Enforces the student code of conduct using RTP and district discipline policies. Works closely with SPED and ELL programs.
• Communicates and collaborates consistently with staff, parents and students.
• Will hold self-accountable and adjusts performance accordingly.

    Job Requirements

      1. Master’s Degree in Educational administration/ leadership or related field
      2. Arizona Administrator Certificate
      3. Five years of verifiable experience leading schools to improvement is preferred
      4. Outstanding human relation skills (students, parents/community, teachers)
      5. Knowledge in basic computer skills and programs (Microsoft Office, Visions, School Master)
      6. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills in English
    • At least 5 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
