Job Description

Lincoln School, an all-girls, Quaker, Pre-K-12 school on the East Side of Providence, RI, is seeking a full-time, innovative and dynamic Performing Arts: Music Teacher for three-year-olds through Grade 5.

?Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters of Music Education preferred.

?Excellent proficiency in piano and/or guitar. Additional instrumental proficiency preferred.

?Experience with Kodaly, Orff and/or Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Certification preferred.

?Expert teaching skills with a range of ages and an understanding of and appreciation for the developmental range.

?In-depth knowledge of content, current music education research, and best practices.

?A vision for a Performing Arts: Music program in the 21st century, with the ability to design, implement, and assess a music program.

?Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines.

?Commitment to excellence. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with flexibility and enthusiasm.

?Continuing interest in professional growth.

?Strong oral and written communication skills.

?Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

?Strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a kind spirit.

Responsibilities include:

?Teaching music understanding/appreciation, harmony, and explorations in instrumental and choral music to elementary pupils from ages 3 through Grade 5.

?Planning and executing a balanced music program; organizing class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.

?Providing individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

?Encouraging students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.

?Utilizing a repertoire of all types of music literature, including multicultural and world, contemporary, and classical music as appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.

?Maintaining responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Make minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.

?Evaluating each pupil’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding and assessing each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group.
