Job Description


  • Applicants must meet the Kansas State Department of Education licensure requirements.
  • Must be a current employee of Topeka Public Schools, licensed and practicing as a school psychologist.
  • ESOL Endorsement preferred.
  • Good communication and consultation skills, knowledge and skill in team building, and an understanding of special education procedures and regulations are desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will work with a progressive team of 20 psychologists who provide a full range of psychological services. We are especially interested in those applicants who are interested in going beyond the diagnostic requirements of special education and have skills and/or interest in providing such services as family therapy, curricular interventions, team collaboration in problem solving, and crisis intervention. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Program planning.
• Coordination of staff and professional development.
• Monitoring compliance with federal, state and local procedures and regulations.
• Assisting in the selection and approval of professional materials.
• Assisting in providing clinical and professional supervision.
• Collaborating with other coordinator staff to develop efficient educational program management.
• Assist in managing staff workload and school assignments.
• Maintain currency with professional practices and recommend program response to these practices.
• Recommend and manage program resources.
• Maintain university relationships for purposes of recruitment of new psychologists and creating an applicant pool.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.


PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  (The incumbent may be required to use the skills and abilities outlined below during any part of the working day.)


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to interact with staff and to meet demands from several people. 



9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.



Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel.



The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
