Job Description

Weld County RE-5J School District is a rural school district in northern Colorado, located in Weld and Larimer counties. Our five traditional schools and one K-8 charter school serve 3,800 students in the towns of Johnstown, Milliken, and small portions of the town of Berthoud and the city of Greeley.

Johnstown and Milliken have a combined population exceeding 22,000. The small town feel of the community attracts many who work in larger neighboring communities. The district's convenient location-within an hour of downtown Denver and Denver International Airport, and 90 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park-give residents the benefits of quiet country living with easy access to city amenities and Colorado mountain activities.

Weld County RE-5J School District emphasizes educating the whole child and inspiring our students to be lifelong learners. From kindergarten through high school, our students are empowered to be involved in their learning and to own their educational experience. We are committed to ensuring students are prepared to enter college or the workforce.

Weld County RE-5J's graduation rate exceeds the state average, with over 85% of our high school students graduating on-time. The district takes great pride in its highly-trained teachers and staff, and engaged parent community.

We provide students with opportunities to explore college and career paths. Roosevelt High School has robust Career Technical Education (CTE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programming. In partnership with AIMS Community College, students have the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, preparing them for the rigors of higher education and giving them a head start on a career path.

Weld County RE-5J School District is committed to building technology education into classroom instruction and equipping all students with critical lifelong, 21st-century skills. All schools have a 1:1 student-to-technology ratio, with each student being issued an iPad to use at home and in the classroom.

We encourage our students to explore their individual talents, interests and passions. Our schools offer clubs, sports, activities, technology and arts programs to engage our students, grow their skills and talents, and foster an inclusive, positive and welcoming school culture.

Investing in talented educators is a priority. We believe having strong, effective teachers is crucial to ensuring success in our schools, which is why our teacher salaries are among the highest in the region. Our educators focus on engaging instruction in the classroom and involving students in their own learning. We foster a culture of learning, collaboration and accountability.

We have an engaged community that is proud of its schools and students. Renowned for our strong school spirit and pride in our student-athletes, Weld County RE-5J students, families and community members show their support by filling our bleachers and cheering on our teams. Parents and community members volunteer and mentor students, helping our students to build connections and achieve success.
