Job Description


  • Assists the Superintendent in all administrative matters that contribute to the fulfillment of the educational philosophy of the district as it relates to providing leadership in achieving and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services.
  • Supervises all principals in all discipline matters that occur in the schools, including expulsion and suspensions.
  • Serves as district hearing officer for all school level probation violations and recommendations for alternative school and expulsions.
  • Coordinates the implementation of a district-wide discipline policy.
  • Supervises all district alternative school programs.
  • Supervises the district’s transportation department.
  • Supervises the district’s adult education program.
  • Prepares monthly updates on referral to alternative school and expulsions.
  • Supervises administrative matters in the schools.
  • Receives and seeks resolution to complaints from parents not resolved by principals or directors.
  • Coordinates district’s school and office building security and safety program (Emergency Preparedness).
  • Coordinates the implementation of the state attendance law, policies, and guidelines.
  • Coordinates and enforces attendance zone policies and regulations.
  • Shares responsibility with Superintendent for evaluation of principals
  • Assists the Superintendent in general administrative operations.
  • Compiles operational statistics and gather such other data as the Superintendent may require.
  • Works with the policy committee of the Board to revise, update, and develop appropriate administrative policies for the district.
  • Works with such other Board committees as the Superintendent may direct.
  • Attends and/or conducts meetings assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Serves as Title IX Coordinator.
  • Prepares and reviews such administrative reports assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Reports regularly to the Superintendent on any developments or problems within the district that come to his/her attention and require the Superintendent’s awareness and action.
  • Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may request.
  • Provides leadership in planning and conducting curriculum studies including special programs for new courses, funding, staffing requirements, and curriculum impact.
  • Serves as the district’s textbook coordinator with the state department of education and coordinates with the curriculum coordinator and schools in the selection of textbooks and provides guidance concerning textbook and other instructional material usage.
  • Assists the district’s curriculum director and others with the development and implementation of instructional programs.
  • Serves as the district’s testing coordinator with the state department of education for state-wide testing.
  • Counsels employees referred by their superior and/or who voluntarily request an appointment.
  • Assists principals in developing a documentary file for employees whose performance level is consistently below acceptable standards.
  • Consults with administrators on personnel matters when requested.
  • Organizes and oversees the district’s Mentor and Induction Teacher Program
  • Consults and collaborates with the district curriculum coordinator in development and implementation of the district’s teacher evaluation program.
  • Assumes responsibility for the district in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the district in the absence of the Superintendent.

  • Valid S.C. Principal's Certificate
  • Four years classroom experience
  • Proven ability to work in professional and community activities.
  • Certification in the current SC teacher observation model or in the process or able to take courses leading to this certification.



  • Must be able to effectively interact with students, parents and staff both in person and on the phone.
