Job Title: OAK GROVE ACADEMY PROGRAM COORDINATOR

 

Department: SPECIAL EDUCATION

POSITION SUMMARY:

Oak Grove Academy serves students eligible for special education, grades 6-12, who are currently unable to be successful in less restrictive school placements. The therapeutic program helps students with social-emotional needs, behavioral concerns and developmental disabilities. Oak Grove Academy offers a wide range of integrated mental health, behavioral and academic supports throughout the school day.

 

The Coordinator will oversee the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of programs and services consistent with district and state objectives. The Coordinator will provide administrative support to licensed and classified staff within the program. The Coordinator will collaborate with contracting districts, agencies, parents and families. The Coordinator will provide technical guidance to administrators, teachers, and parents on requirements and procedures involved in delivering special education services at Oak Grove Academy.

The Coordinator will provide technical guidance to administrators, teachers, and parents on requirements and procedures involved in delivering special education and services at Oak Grove Academy.  The Coordinator serves as assistant to the Director of Special Education and coordinates grants for special education and student placement for students with special needs and engages in special projects as needed. This position reports to the Director of Special Education or their designee.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with personnel functions (e.g. recruitment, hiring, evaluation of teachers, etc. for teacher applicants, mental health specialists, instructional assistants, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring that objectives of Oak Grove Academy are achieved within budget
  • Collaborate with district personnel and other districts for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs
  • Communicate on a regular basis with outside providers, parents/guardians and the group home setting for the purpose of building and maintaining positive collaborative relationships
  • Coordinate program components, support needs and material for the purpose of delivering services for special needs students
  • Develop proposals, new programs, budget and grants for the purpose of meeting district special education goals
  • Provide direct supervision to licensed staff including classroom observations, lesson development, and curriculum recommendations.
  • Ensure program adheres to district curriculum guidelines, expectations and course requirements.
  • Prepare master course schedule and building schedules in collaboration with Special Education Director or Coordinator.
  • Evaluate Oak Grove programs and/or projects for the purpose of carrying out and achieving District objectives
  • Facilitate meetings, processes, etc. for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve district’s desired objectives for Oak Grove Academy
  • Implement assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to district, state and/or federal regulations
  • Prepare a wide variety of written materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, internal audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information
  • Present information on a variety of topics for the purpose of communicating information and/or gaining feedback
  • Serve as district administrative representative in IEP meetings and other meetings as assigned for the purpose of documenting and monitoring student progress and/or placement decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of completing work assignments
  • Assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Maintain regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules
  • Organize and provide professional development to staff aligned with program model

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Oregon Administrative License or ability to obtain
  • Experience and training in Special Education
  • Licensed mental health professional (LMFT, LPC, LCSW, Clinical Psychologist) preferred
  • Eligible clinical supervisor through the Oregon Board of Licensed Counselors and Therapists preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to physically interact with students who are aggressive, emotional and/or unpredictable in their reactions. The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally may be very loud. The work environment may be fast paced and emotionally demanding.
