Job Description

Lead Teacher - Waterville Preschool

Woodfords has an opening for a Leader Teacher position within its Waterville Early Childhood Services Preschool Program. The Early Childhood Services Preschool Program focuses on early intervention for children showing signs of increased behavioral, developmental or mental health issues. Woodfords offers multiple preschools where children with autism (ASD), pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), or similar developmental disabilities learn skills to help them function successfully in home, school and community.


Responsibilities:
•Manage the overall operation of the classroom
•Create developmentally appropriate programming for each child, and support teachers to implement plans
•Supervise Teaching Assistants (TAs) assigned to the classroom
•Set up, prep and maintain the appropriate classroom learning environment
•Provide direct care to children based upon individual education and/or individual treatment plan
•Conduct assessments and support with the writing of educational plans for children enrolled in the program
•Attend IEP meetings as a special education consultant
•Ensure all required IEP and other documentation is completed
•Have frequent collateral contact with therapists and other members of the child's team


Qualifications:
•A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in special education, early childhood or a related field
•A minimum of an Ed. Tech III Certificate; and a conditional or full 282 Certification; full 282 certification preferred, from the Maine Department of Education; as well as Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification
•A minimum of two years' experience and the desire to work with children with special needs
•Training and experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis procedures in educational settings
•Must be an American Citizen or maintain legal alien status
•Must have a valid driver's license
