Job Description

Rising Tide Charter Public School is seeking Daily Substitute Teachers to be placed on our active sub list for the 2017-2018 school year. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree, background working with students, and an interest in taking an inquiry- and skills-based approach to teaching and learning.

Rising Tide Charter Public School (Rising Tide) is a Massachusetts charter public school. For the 2017-2018 school year, Rising Tide will serve approximately 675 students in grades 5-12 from towns in the school’s designated region; the majority of the students are residents of Plymouth. This year will be the twentieth year for the school.

Rising Tide is a free public school that provides an academically challenging environment and high standards in a safe, small, and rewarding setting. Teachers develop the curriculum based upon the schoolwide objectives, benchmark skills, and subject area essential questions; the curriculum is aligned with the Massachusetts State Frameworks. Teachers are encouraged to utilize an inquiry-based approach for building skills, content knowledge and understanding within the classroom.

Rising Tide Goals:
•To foster in each student a love of learning and high achievement through encouragement to continuously improve in the acquisition of basic skills through work on integrated projects that reflect life’s real challenges.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include implementing curriculum planned by our full-time faculty when called in on any given day, and working together with the full-time staff to build a supportive school environment.

At Rising Tide, full-time teachers are a part of grade-level and curricular teams, are advisors for students, and are given opportunities for leadership within the school.     The Rising Tide Charter Public School will provide a strong academic program rooted in the history of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Our students will harvest opportunity from the practice of language, the reasoning of mathematics, the analysis of science and the reflection of history. We want children to hone skills through rigorous studies, but skills alone do not make a whole education. The Rising Tide Charter Public School will also cultivate within its students a sense of belonging to our community, a tie with those who have come before them and a seed on continuity between the Plymouth of today and the Plymouth of tomorrow.
