SUMMARY: The Catholic Schools Office at the Pastoral Center in Braintree is seeking a Director of School Improvement Planning who will ensure support for the academic achievement of schools and implementation of all interventions and/or to serve as a key member of the Catholic Schools Office leadership team. This position will support schools in developing Saints and Scholars in the Archdiocese of Boston. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Understanding of the mission of Catholic education, knowledge of regular, vocational, adult, special/gifted education and instructional/curriculum theory and practice. Knows effective instruction, strategic planning, and how to develop a professional community of learners. Experience in resource allocation for education programs, human resources, physical/equipment resources, working with teachers, curriculum specialists, principals on instructional/curricular issues, program evaluations, integration of literacy and implementation of standards-based curriculum is needed. This position reports to the superintendent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyze educational studies, student data, test results for improving instruction and providing information to the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Boston and the Catholic Schools Office leadership team.
• Assist Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Boston and the Catholic Schools Office leadership team with their instructional leadership responsibilities.
• Collaborate with others for implementing and/or maintaining services and programs, and to identify and assess student needs.
• Collaborate with Superintendent’s cabinet and program administrators for facilitating the use of evaluation findings and recommendations to immediate and long-range planning and decision making to determine program’s effectiveness.
• Coordinate district’s school improvement plan (e.g. set criteria, review process, monitor implementation, results) for ensuring the plan is aligned with the needs of the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Boston.
• Develop long and short-range plans/programs, strategies, and annual budget for ensuring that the district’s resources are effectively utilized to implement education policy directives.
• Evaluate programs and/or projects for carrying out and achieving objectives within area of responsibility.
• Research a variety of information (e.g. current practices, instructional materials, methods, curriculum guidelines, etc.) for developing new programs and/or master plans.
• Coordinate staff development activities with school administrators and teachers for improving student achievement.
• Facilitate meetings, processes, etc. for implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve district's desired objectives.
• Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
• Provide resources and/or training on scientifically based strategies to schools for identifying exceptional students and for intervention in their academic progress.
