Job Description

This vacancy consists of 1 class of Introduction to Programming (Java); 1 class of Senior Capstone Project; 2 classes of AP Computer Science A (Java) and 1 class of Enterprise Architecture. (Courses are subject to change based on student course requests)
Introduction to Programming - This course builds on student exposure through systemic teaching of basic programming skills with Java. Topics include selections, functions, characters, strings, loops, methods, arrays, objects and classes. This course is a pre-requisite to the AP Computer Science A course.
The Capstone course is a hybrid course of independent and guided study that allows students to pick an area of concentration and explore any aspect of that particular subject. The four areas of concentration are: IT/Project Management, Data Science, Network Security and Game Design and Development. Introduce students to the basics of their topic and guide them in exploring those areas in deeper levels as they research their area of interest to develop a project that will solve a real world problem. Students complete a 12 to 15 page research paper and a 100 hour project among other requirements of this course. Guide students on their life changing journey in a class that will challenge them as never before.
Enterprise Architecture - This course will walk students through the components of a modern day system. It will progress through the following four main topics: Hardware, Virtualization & Cloud, Security and Networking
AP Computer Science A - In the course students will understand object-oriented (OO) design (OOD) and OO programming (OOP), learn to code Java in a well-structured fashion and in good style giving attention to clarity of both code and documentation and learn to use Java library packages, classes, and interfaces and the Java Collections framework within the scope of the APCS-A Java subset.

  • Refers students to specialists when deficiencies are detected or suspected
  • Implements all curriculum programs adopted systemwide in a positive and efficient manner
  • Participates in curriculum development appropriate to assignment
  • Establishes clear objectives for all learning experiences and communicates these objectives to students
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with students
  • Makes use of a variety of resources, materials, and methods in an effort to improve the effectiveness of instruction
  • Speaks clearly using fluent and appropriate language in well-modulated tones
  • Evaluates pupil accomplishments on a regular basis
  • Confers with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis
  • Takes all necessary precautions to protect and to maintain facilities, equipment, and materials
  • Returns materials to their assigned place or designated personnel promptly after use
  • Emphasizes and enforces safety factors within the classroom, building, and throughout school property
  • As an extension of classroom management responsibilities supervises students throughout the school as assigned, or as circumstances require
  • Maintains a disciplined atmosphere appropriate to the teaching environment
  • Maintains a practice of good housekeeping for self and students to improve the learning environment
  • Establishes reasonable classroom rules with consistent enforcement occurring in a positive way

    Job Requirements

    • A Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching license with an endorsement in Computer Science and in Business and Information Technology is required, or the selected candidate must be eligible for a provisional license.
    • Skills should include planning and organizing, curriculum design and integration, classroom management, communication, human relations and problem solving.
