Manager of Special Education Coordinators

UP Education Network manages and operates six schools in Boston, Lawrence, and Springfield, MA. We serve over 3,000 elementary and middle school students. UP is invited by local school districts to restart chronically underperforming district schools as UP Academies. Each UP Academy shares the same mission: to ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character necessary to succeed on the path to college and to achieve their full potential.

Role
UP Education Network’s Manager of Special Education Coordinators will report to the Chief Academic Officer and will work closely with the organization’s school leadership teams. The Manager of Special Education Coordinators will work to develop a robust and effective strategy and system for serving students with special needs.

Specific Responsibilities
• Manage a sustainable, compliant, and effective Special Education program at UP Education Network schools
• Conduct weekly walk-throughs of classrooms with school-based leadership teams to norm on Special Education programming and support needed adjustments
• Monitor progress of Special Education cohorts at UP schools through quarterly data team meetings with school leaders
• Provide PD, as needed, at schools, to support Special Education programming
• Manage relationships with host districts and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Qualifications
• A strong belief in UP Education Network’s core values: Students, Community, Humility, Resilience, and Humor
• Five years of experience in Special Education or a related field required
• Experience as a teacher coach or school leader highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree preferred
• Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.

Compensation and Benefits
This position falls into UP Education Network’s Manager salary band, with salaries beginning at $60,000 and the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. Additionally, UP offers medical insurance coverage that subsidizes the majority of the employee, spouse/domestic partner, and child premiums.
