MISSION STATEMENT
Trinidad School District #1 will provide all students with a comprehensive system of support, a safe learning environment, and the opportunity to reach his/her academic and leadership potential as determined by state and national standards.

THE COMMUNITY
Trinidad is located near the southern border of Colorado with a population of approximately 9,096. The unsurpassed beauty of the area, with the delicate balance of mountains and plains, continues to bring many people to this little piece of paradise. We are home to the first junior college in the state, Trinidad Junior College. Trinidad has two beautiful lakes for fishing/hiking in about a one-hour drive. The Denver International Airport is three hours from Trinidad.

    • The board of education has determined the following qualities to be essential to the success of its future superintendent.

      • Master’s degree required, Ph.D. preferred.
      • Broad experience in Pre K-12 education, including teaching, instructional leadership and school administration. Superintendent experience in administration and finance preferred.
      • Proven success developing school district budgets and managing district finances.
      • Excellent communication/professional skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, staff and school board members.
      • Ability to promote the district and form relationships with the community and its businesses as a resident of the school district.
      • Experience in career and technical education, and blended online learning.
      • Visionary leadership style in the organizational leadership/managerial skills that embrace interaction, collaboration and differing opinions.
      • An innovative problem solver who maintains focus on student needs. 
      • Willingness to enforce all appropriate policies fairly and consistently.
      • A history of valuing the rural lifestyle and small town diversity and culture.
      • Functional understanding of Colorado School Finance and Colorado State Statutes.
