Job Description

This is an 8 hour, 218 day position in the Special Education Department.  Work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The successful candidate is responsible for Safety Net, post-secondary surveys and maintenance of records.  This position includes lifting heavy files, bending, kneeling, pulling and pushing.  Helpful to have a background in 504 and/or special education and be service oriented.

JOB SUMMARY:


Perform a variety of clerical duties to support district and department responsibilities and procedures related to special education services.


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Provide clerical support, answer phones; respond to inquiries from staff, parents, and agencies; schedule appointments and meetings; and assist with other duties as directed for the purpose of fulfilling required procedures and providing quality customer service.
  • Establish, maintain and process various student records and files including 504 eligible students, newly eligible special services students, students currently receiving special services, and special services students who have withdrawn from the district.
  • Process necessary paperwork in response to internal and external record requests.
  • Maintain and report various special education-related data/records to authorized individuals or agencies for the purpose of program compliance.
  • Word process, type, copy, collate, sort, file and distribute documents to support the efficient operation of school office services.
  • Prioritize and organize tasks for the purpose of meeting deadlines, accessibility of information, and completing job duties in a timely manner.
  • Comply with district policies.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor(s) for the purpose of maintaining an organized and efficient environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of and ability to use various software programs related to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Education/Training:


  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Word process with accuracy at 60 w.p.m.
  • Must pass the clerical testing at the Administrative Assistant level.
