Job Description

The SEED School of Maryland is a statewide, public, college-preparatory boarding school that opened in August 2008. SEED MD presents students from across the state with an opportunity to receive a tuition-free education that prepares them for success in college and beyond. The school currently enrolls more than 390 boys and girls in grades six through eleven and will eventually grow to educate and board 400 students in grades six through twelve.

The SEED School of Maryland combines a rigorous and engaging academic curriculum with life skills and enrichment activities to provide students with a thoughtfully balanced learning and living experience. Students and their families commit to a seven-year educational program that offers small class sizes, high-quality teaching and learning experiences, mentoring, community service, and extracurricular activities such as sports and arts. The School builds on the success of The SEED School of Washington, D.C., which was founded in 1998. Ninety-four percent of SEED D.C. graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities.

The SEED School of Maryland seeks a skilled instructional leader to assume the position of Director of Academics. This position will report to the Head of School and be responsible for the following:

- Curricular and Instructional Leadership
- Organizational Leadership

    Job Requirements

    • • At least Four-years’ experience as a school-based leader required
      • Master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
      • Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education
      • Holds or is eligible for an Administrator I certificate or above
      • Passionately committed to children
      • In possession of personal integrity and a strong moral and ethical character
      • A goal-setter with boundless energy who goes “above and beyond” what is expected
