Madison County School District is seeking a qualified, dynamic, and passionate full-time Speech Language Pathologist.

 

CONTRACT: 10 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Possess and maintain a clear, renewable Georgia certificate in Speech Language Pathology (P-12).  Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may deem appropriate and acceptable. Experience with Medicaid billing and AAC devices desired.

 

REPORTS TO:  Special Education Director/Principal

 

JOB GOAL:  To help reduce or eliminate speech and language disabilities that interfere with individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's education program

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a resource for school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral, receptive, and expressive communication and speech improvement through the use of screenings, evaluations, and treatment
  • Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with speech/language disabilities
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments through the Pyramids of Intervention
  • Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of articulation/phonology, voice fluency, oral motor planning, processing, and receptive and expressive language impairments
  • Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
  • Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student's needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school stafff to implement therapy by suggestions for students' daily activities
  • Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate
  • Provides in-service education and serves as a constant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement
  • Keep thorough ongoing records and data for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided services
  • Maintain lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services
  • Compile case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early development history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate
  • Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies
