Job Description

• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations regarding education of students identified as educationally disabled under the IDEA.
• Responsible for oversight of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act including district compliance with processes and policies.
• Develop and provide programs suited to the educational needs of all students with educational disabilities. Identify current and future needs of the district relative to Student Services.
• Consult with building LEPT Teams and coordinate program and placement efforts of the Pupil Personnel Teams, Regional Services and other agencies.
• Implement procedures developed by administrative staff and policies set forth by the School Board regarding Student Services in a timely, thorough and accurate manner.
• Assist with the development of School Board policy impacting students identified under IDEA or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
• Work with all school staff to improve the quality of Special Education instruction, aiding them through demonstrations, recommending methods and teaching techniques, providing technical assistance, building professional libraries, and conducting department meetings.
• Prepare and administer Student Services budget in conjunction with the District budget process, including narratives and rationales.
• Assist classroom teachers and building administrators in the implementation of inclusive educational practices where appropriate.
• Supervise and evaluate Student Services staff in collaboration with building principals.
• Write, submit, and manage federal grants and any other discretionary grants which are successfully applied for.
• Provide or arrange for teacher training in inclusive education processes and practices.
• Supervise and support Assistant Director of Student Services as she/he carries out assigned responsibilities.
• Monitor and report to Superintendent and School Board on special education finances and cost-control initiatives.
• Provide supervision for psychological, speech and language, occupational therapy, and district coordinator roles.
• Participate in appropriate local, state, and national meetings; maintain personal professional development.
• Attend School Board and DOE meetings within the district relative to Student Services agenda items when necessary.
• Collaborate with Director of Curriculum as appropriate to enhance articulation between grades, schools, and district.
• Assist community at large, as well as school community, in understanding the parameters and scope of Student Services.

    Job Requirements

    • • Certified in Special Education Administration or related field with NH DOE.
      • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing Special Education.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills, including group facilitation.
      • Demonstrated evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • At least 5 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
