Job Description

Argosy Collegiate Charter School proudly provides a tuition free, college preparatory, small school environment for scholars to grow, learn, and develop in. We are open to all learners and are focused on making a positive impact on college and career readiness for Fall River scholars.Our program includes an individualized approach to preparing scholars for college, career, and life. In 2014, we opened our doors with 100 6th grade scholars. In August 2018, we expand to grades 6 through 10 with 500 scholars.

Our middle school program is designed to identify skill gaps scholars may have and then to work diligently to close them, so that all scholars are at or above grade level by the end of 8th grade. Our high school program includes a comprehensive dual enrollment opportunity in which all of our scholars are afforded the chance to earn a full year of tuition-free college credits by the end of 12th grade. The work is hard, but we believe all scholars are capable and we will provide all the supports necessary for that success. A large component of that commitment and outcome includes hiring the best educators possible.

This position is a parallel, co-planning, and co-teaching model within the 7th grade cohort. There are 100 scholars total in the 7th grade, with two ELA teachers who co-lead instruction for 50 scholars with push in support for a full inclusion model. Our middle model is uniquely designed to support all learners, with a data-driven focus.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Academic Achievement:
Create and execute rigorous daily lesson plans that align to MA Common Core Standards and push scholars toward achieving mastery of content and skills in co-instructed inclusion settings and small group intensive instruction.
Utilize data to drive instruction, plan for supports and interventions, and improve lesson plans.
Provide varied and differentiated instruction to meet scholars where they are and to challenge and motivate them.
Collaborate within the school community to ensure scholars’ needs are met.

School Culture and Character Development:
Create a positive, warm, and achievement-oriented environment based on high expectations that engages, encourages and motivates scholars to own their learning, behavior, and choices.
Hold all scholars to a high bar of excellence, integrity and accountability.
Work with school leadership to ensure discipline policies and classroom management are consistent and effective.
Effectively communicate with scholars, families, and colleagues by exemplifying Argosy Collegiate’s DREAM Values.

Professional Development and Growth:
Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, and team planning meetings.
Be reflective, responsible, and solutions-oriented in our problem solving and perspective, collaborating with peers, team leaders, and school leadership to improve instructional, cultural, and leadership systems and structures.
Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom management.
Participate enthusiastically in both formal and informal learning and development opportunities.

Desired Skills and Characteristics:
Alignment with Argosy Collegiate’s mission and vision for all scholars.
Teaching experience preferred in an urban or charter school setting with proven track record for closing the achievement gap.
Ability to think and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial setting.
Ability to think critically, problem-solve, backwards plan, analyze and use data, and prioritize the needs of scholars.

BA/BS in education or content area (required) or Master’s Degree in education or related field (preferred).
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a strong plus.
Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the U.S. required.
Completion of the MTELs in Communication & Literacy and in content area by the end of the first year of employment.
SEI endorsement by the end of the first year of employment.
