Job Description

New Hampshire's first statewide online high school, the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School, is currently accepting applications for Guidance Counselors needed to provide academic support services to part-time VLACS students. The counselor will work with parents and students to help facilitate the success of middle school and high school students at VLACS. This position will also serve as a liaison to other NH schools by working with guidance counselors and administrators throughout the state to provide them with relevant information so they can support their students enrolled at VLACS.The counselor may assist in the admissions process, which may include interviewing applicants, reviewing transcripts and assessing students' potential to be successful in completing their high school education online. Training and professional development for online component will be provided, and applicants should be:
-Hold a valid certificate.
-Interested in using Internet technologies as a powerful teaching tool to provide a personalized student-learning environment

Responsibilities may include
- admissions support
- help in counseling our diverse part-time population
- help partner schools work with students taking VLACS courses
- counsel parents of part-time and full-time students on VLACS courses and programming
- support growing advisory program

    Job Requirements

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      Knowledge of contemporary counseling techniques and protocols.
      Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively to create effective action plans to support student success.
      Strong listening, conflict resolution and advocacy skills.
      Master's Degree in School Counseling preferred.
      NH certification – K-12 Guidance.
      Candidates must be able to work out of the Exeter, NH office 2 days per week (40% position).

      This is a 12 month position.
    • At least 2 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
